How the Vera's do: Fall

Believe it or not but we still have yet to purchase a pumpkin spice latte, isn’t that like a fall must have? And while people are already pumping the Christmas music through their Alexa’s (raises hands in excitement) we’re finally feeling Fall weather here in Texas. The trees have started changing color and quickly the leaves are falling. Thankfully we were able to get the to pumpkin patch the day before it closed for the season. You see pumpkin patches are like Christmas tree farms in Texas, there really aren’t any.

So we got ourselves to the popular Hall’s Pumpkin Farm to pick some pumpkins, pet some animals, and take some photos. Y’all, this place is a mecca for gram moments. It’s actually close to annoying how many people are taking photos here. I was even checked by Glamma and she told me to put my camera away and just enjoy the moment. (she read my latest post)

The day we went it was windy so it was a little rough to enjoy everything with the dust flying around. Jax had fun looking at and hitting all the pumpkins, oh and throwing them too. Cause yes, everything round is a ball to him. He even went down the slides on the play structure they had there, Grandpa went down the slides too. I was bummed Fabian wasn’t able to join us because of work but I was excited my parents wanted to take Jax and I. We made some memories that’s for sure.

Of course Jax was so excited to see all of the animals they had there for the kids and families. We would run back and forth from the piggies to the chickens or “birdies”, that’s what Jax kept calling them. This kid has no fear when it comes to animals, hence the one photo. My time was spent chasing him and pulling him back from the fences so he didn’t get pecked at.

Another fall holiday is Halloween. And whether you agree or disagree with celebrating Oct 31, here’s what we do. The Veras don’t do Halloween in the sense of trick or treating or really even calling it Halloween but this year we did let Jax dress up in a costume and we went to a local church’s fall festival. Of course we had to go the baby shark route! This costume was so hard to find this year. He loved it and that night didn’t want to take it off at bedtime.

Another fall family activity for us this year was decorating our front entry way. Fabian was really excited about styling it with all the “it’s fall y’all” decor and any fun pieces we could find at Hobby Lobby. Decorating with two different visions can be a little difficult but honestly it was really fun watching Fabian be excited to dress up our house for the seasons! He’s already talking about his plans for Christmas. Stayed tuned for our Winter themed entry way…

We’re excited to spend Thanksgiving together as a family, it’s probably our favorite Fall memory. There really is nothing better than spending time with family surround by all the yummy food! Fabian’s family has been requesting my famous Sweet Potato Casserole for weeks already! I might need to make a tester batch this weekend. Would you want to see that recipe?

What are your favorite family fall activities? Do you hit a pumpkin farm and hayride with a PSL in your hand? What areas of your home get seasonally decorated? Where do you shop for you seasonal decor? Hobby Lobby is always our go-to!

Currently listening to Christmas music as I write this but still enjoying the Fall y’all!
